“Starting from our very first Zoom call, Darren put us at ease. He understood exactly what we wanted and somehow managed to capture it all perfectly. Our photos are stunning, and the highlight film brings back every emotion from the day. We’d recommend Darren to anyone looking for a relaxed, talented, and genuinely lovely photographer/videographer.”
If you’re booking me for hybrid coverage, you’ll get the best of both worlds — full-day photography and a short cinematic highlight film of your day.
My approach is still the same: relaxed, natural, and focused on telling your story.I’m not there to turn your wedding into a movie set — I work discreetly, switching between camera and video mode throughout the day, capturing both beautiful stills and short, emotional clips that become your finished highlight film.
I start the day with the same approach as my photography-only weddings: capturing the buzz, the laughter, and the details. The difference with hybrid is that I’ll also film little snippets — the moment you pop open the fizz, your bridesmaids reacting to your dress, or a final look in the mirror before you head out.The video clips are short, natural, and blend seamlessly into your highlight film.
The ceremony is the heart of the day. I’ll photograph every key moment — walking down the aisle, the look you share when you meet, the rings, the kiss — while also filming a few gentle, steady clips to bring those moments to life in motion. No big video rigs or distracting lights — just one person working quietly, making sure the focus is entirely on you.
Group shots are still important, but we keep them efficient. While the formal photos are being set up, I might also capture little bits of video in between — hugs, laughter, or the flower girl twirling in her dress. These are the moments that make the highlight film feel alive.
I love speeches for both photo and video. I’ll photograph the reactions, the laughter, the emotion — while also taking short clips of the speaker and the crowd so you can see the moment as well as remember it.
This is your time to relax together. I’ll guide you with gentle prompts, capturing natural stills and weaving in short film clips to create movement in your highlight. Two short sessions work best — one earlier in the day, and one around golden hour for that beautiful, soft light.
I’ll photograph the energy and fun of your evening reception while also capturing video snippets of your first dance, laughter with guests, and the general atmosphere — the perfect ending for your highlight film.
The Result: You’ll get a full set of beautifully edited wedding photographs and a 1–2 minute cinematic highlight video that brings your day back to life, all created seamlessly by one person.

I’m a Scarborough-based wedding photographer and videographer, capturing weddings across Yorkshire’s stunning coast, countryside, and beyond. Whether you’re planning a relaxed rustic celebration in the Yorkshire Wolds or a beautiful seaside ceremony in Scarborough, my goal is simple — to tell your story in a way that feels real, heartfelt, and timeless.
With years of experience and a genuine love for what I do, I blend creativity, technical skill, and a down-to-earth approach to make sure your day is documented beautifully, leaving you with memories you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
The best wedding photography and film happens when you’re simply being you.
When you’re laughing with your guests, holding hands without even thinking about it, or stealing a quiet moment together in the middle of it all.
It’s the little glances.
The in-between moments.
Not staged. Not forced. Just real memories, captured in the most natural and beautiful way possible.
Every couple is different, and so is every wedding. Taking the time to get to know you before the big day means I can capture your celebration with a personal approach that reflects your personalities and style.
If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for in my packages, just ask, I’m always happy to chat and see if we’re the right fit for each other.
At Studio41, I have had the privilege of documenting love stories in a range of locations. From the rustic charm of Wold View Farm to the timeless elegance of Ox Pasture Hall, the romantic ambiance of Raven Hall now Grand Villa Heights to the idyllic setting of Hackness Grange, each venue holds a unique place in the memories I’ve helped create.
Some recent weddings I have captured weddings at including Wildwood and Eden, and The Spa. I have also been fortunate to capture weddings at the beauty of historical sites such as Scampston Hall, Sewerby Hall, and the National Centre of Early Music. The scenic wonders of Yorkshire Arboretum, Sandburn Hall, Sneaton Castle and Rise Hall have provided stunning backdrops for celebrations.
Venturing into the heart of York, I have had the pleasure of photographing moments at The Grand Spa York, the Merchant Taylors Hall, and the York Registry Office. Meanwhile, the tranquility and the relax of Stepney Hill Farm, the elegance of Raithwaite Hall, and the cozy charm of The Stables Cross Butts have all been lovely to photograph at.
